Jesus Christ commanded His earliest followers to make disciples of all nations, beginning in Jerusalem, extending to Judea and Samaria, then to the uttermost parts of the world. His command was to the apostles and earliest believers, and for those “who will believe in Me through their word” (John 17:20). His instrument to fulfill this mission is His Church, the body of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit. The first church was birthed at Pentecost, multiplied through most of the modern world during the first century, and continues today extending the Kingdom of God in the hearts of people among all nations.

The first century church was the purest and most effective expression of Christ’s body, the Church, the world has seen. Those directly equipped by Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and charged to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth initiated the work with some elemental core values we see identified in the Book of Acts. Put simply, these committed followers of Christ, led by the Holy Spirit, established new believers in the faith while living out the commission Jesus gave, and developed leaders who shepherded a movement that changed the world.

It is the desire of The Way Church Network to return to the way of the first century church by emulating the life of Jesus and His apostles. Much like the first church, we desire to see a multiplying movement of churches planted in Central Arkansas, in North America and to the ends of the earth.

The Way Church Network (TWCN) believes the most effective means to accomplish this is through “microchurches,” small, simple and unique expressions of Jesus’ church. Microchurches are designed to be “Gospel communities” of people that love one another, serve Jesus together, and emulate the way of Christ and His Apostles. These microchurches are networked together for greater impact and health in support of a movement. This includes network leaders responsible for shepherding the movement, stewarding resources for Kingdom impact, and protecting the doctrine and the vision.

The world desperately needs to see and know God. They need to understand that He loves them, He created them to know Him, and He has made a way for them to be reconciled to Him through Jesus. He has invited His people, the Church, into this missional work as His ambassadors. This is The Way Church Network’s purpose and hope.
